Buddypress Update Breaks Site

What happened is that the latest Buddypress update (November 3 / 4) introduced a conflict with the “Members page only for logged in users” plugin such that if you’re logged out, the permalinks will produce 500 server errors for you. Those logged in won’t even know there’s a problem.

You’ll detect the problem once your Jetpack stats practically flatline.

* Update: Buddypress pushed out version 2.7.2 the following day… seems to have fixed this problem.
